LEARN THE MOST
TIME-HONORED APPROACH TO THE ACTING CRAFT.
Whenever an actor "pretends" or creates something that is not organic,
their performance will be representational. They're pretending. The best
anyone can hope to get from an audience with this kind of work is a "pretend"
response. But, if the artist is truthful and actually experiences the
emotions that go along with his or her character's actions, then the audience
will experience the emotion too. (For more, see "What
is the method")
About the Atwater Playhouse:
The space itself is a 45-seat, intimate but spacious brand-new theatre.
This theatre and school were opened with the intention of presenting drama
in the most honest, organic way possible. The Atwater Playhouse is a Method
acting theatre. All work and performance done in the space is treated
with the same amount of respect for the acting craft that Constantin Stanislavski
preached in his writings and teachings. The theatre is also available
for private rentals.
