PLAYHOUSE STAFF
Jamie Paolinetti is the Founder and Theatre Director at the Atwater Playhouse. He will also be instructing and directing classes. Jamie received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine. He attended film school at UCLA, as well as undertaking extensive studies in other dramatic arts. Jamie has studied the Method for more than ten years, and also completed advanced study of the Stanislavski Method for actors and directors at the Theater Group Studio in Los Angeles. He has also studied with Eugene Lasrov, of The Moscow Arts Theatre.
Working both in front of and behind the camera, Jamie has written, directed, acted in or produced more than fifty commercial spots, airing on various local, regional and national TV networks. He has also performed in numerous theatrical productions in and around the L.A. area. As a writer, Jamie has a short film and three screenplays to his writing credit, and served as a technical consultant on the television program, "Pacific Blue." In addition to writing for the screen, Jamie is also a playwright. Working extensively in the theater, he has written numerous original pieces, including the recent Atwater Playhouse productions, “I Do” and "Invisible Bars".
As a filmmaker, his first film which he wrote, directed and edited, is entitled "The Hard Road" (www.thehardroadmovie.com) and has become a cult phenomenon. It was named "Top 5 Documentary of 2003" by DVD Talk. Jamie's new film "PRO" which he also wrote, directed and edited, has received enthusiastic critical acclaim (www.prothemovie.com) and has been called, "a major step up" by numerous media sources. It has played to sold-out audiences in more than 15 theatrical screenings in as many states, and continues to sell on DVD nationwide as well as in more than 20 countries. Jamie@AtwaterPlayhouse.com
Tom Simmons will serve as a director and instructor at the Atwater Playhouse. Tom has a BFA from Baylor University in theatre and an MFA in acting from Cornell University. Tom has been a professional working actor for 20 years, and has appeared on dozens of hit TV shows including Deadwood, Malcolm in the Middle, Vegas, ER, Home Improvement, JAG, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Charmed, Melrose Place, Golden Girls, Beverly Hills 90210 and the much-anticipated upcoming show, Heist. Tara Kokenge is the theatre manager for the Atwater Playhouse as well as a member of the theatre's company. Tara has a BA in Theatre and English from Marquette University. She has previously studied in New York at The New Actors Workshop before joining the Atwater Playhouse to continue training in the Stanislavski Method. Tara also played the central character in the Atwater Playhouse's production of "Murky Lake" which was an great critical and popular success. Tara@AtwaterPlayhouse.com
Denise Campbell is a director and instructor at the Atwater Playhouse as well as a member of the theatre’s company. Denise studied with Ron Law for a 6-year in-depth study of the Method as taught by Harold Clurman. She has additional experience at the Theatre Group Studio
under Lorinne Vozoff's direction. She holds a master’s degree in Administration from USC and has taught both as an instructor and director in Los Angeles and North Carolina. Denise has recently completed her Doctorate, (at USC) which includes a comprehensive study of the Stanislavski Method. This soon to be published work is the first Doctorate of its kind anywhere.
