WHAT IS, "THE METHOD"
If you ask anyone to name the ten most respected actors in the world, chances are eight out of the ten will be Method actors. And, one of the other two will be Method and not know it.
So, what is the Method? The Stanislavski Method allows actors -through their use of the system- to work with directors, break down and analyze both material and character, and implement a set of tools that they learn in their training. This will allow them to merge their own personal emotions with those of the characters and become one living breathing entity. The result, hopefully, is a performance where the actor’s actions and emotions are genuine, not representational. Not pretended. To some this sounds insane, and certainly, the Method is not for everyone. But for those it speaks to there simply is no other way. By working with their director, the actor will strive for “truth” in the performance. The Method will provide the actor with the tools they need in order to find the truth in their performance as well as their instrument, whatever that truth may be. And truth is what separates art from entertainment.
